Saturday's scrimmage photo highlights
(PTH photos -- Aug. 14)
In a test of wills, Phillip Gaines (15) outduels Patrick
Randolph for downfield pass thrown on the money; both lads had a good scrimmage

Charles Ross turns it downfield and pours on the gas
during his 55-yard pass-and-run; sure enough, it was Phillip Gaines (R) who dragged him
down at the three-yard-line, denying him the touchdown

Although Denzel Wells evades Tolu Akimwumi's grasp after making nice reception, he was
chided by his coaches for not turning upfield to get the first down -- s'ok, it's a
teaching situation

Kramer Lucio plays sheriff to Chris Boswell's 45-yard
field goal attempt, which was good; the redshirt freshman kicker was booming handsome,
lofty spirals through the uprights all day -- the Keller native pretty much established
himself as the man to beat for field goal kicking chores; "I just do it the same way
every time," he told us afterwards

Frosh Bryce Callahan makes nice cut and turns it upfield
during early punting drills

Owl corners make sure defensive stop; there's some real
talent back there

Taylor Cook's three TD drives on the day WERE against the
first string "D", for the most part; here, he stands pat under a heavy rush by
the DL and gets the pass away

Will Rice OL be able to play with greater cohesion this
year? So far, so good as decent depth supplements several youngsters with ample playing
time in the stating unit

Chris Jammer swoops in like a P-38 to bottle up receiver
